The Timothy St Jean Campaign

Hi,My name is Isaiah St Jean. On the 9th January 2018 my father and his friend Wayne Sharpe were on their way back from a family funeral. On the A406, my father’s car broke down when going over a curb at the Ilford Flyover in the left lane of a dual carriageway. When this had happened, he did the right thing. He exited his car and distanced himself from the vehicle. He called the police to put cones out to redirect the traffic so that he wouldn’t be slowing the cars down. As always, he was putting other people before himself. A White Astra had pulled over to assist my father and his friend.

Meanwhile, two cars were racing : A Black BMW and a Vauxhall. The BMW collided into the Astra which then caused the Astra to hit into both of them against a wall below the knees.Both of their legs were severely damaged.

My father’s right leg was fractured to pieces, but it has been stated that it will recover.

His left leg however, was amputated as it was beyond salvaging.

The man who was driving the BMW had ran away from the scene and is being investigated by the police as we speak.

My dad has always been someone who has worried about other people, never stopping to think about himself. Even when I saw him for the first time after his surgery he said to me ‘I’m so sorry son... I’m sorry - You didn’t deserve this. How am I going to provide for the family? How am I going to support you?’ Feeling like his life was over. All I could do was be strong for him reassuring him this would all be okay. I’d never seen my dad as torn and heartbroken in all of my life. It’s like he felt helpless and alone, like this was the end for him.

But I know my father, and he never gives up.

Throughout my life he has always been there for me whatever the circumstance, so now it’s my turn to return the favour.

I’m making this GoFundMe page as I want him to see that he’s not alone and that there are people that support him and love him. I want him to see how many people he has touched in his life and how we all WILL come together to help him through this and be able to walk again.He has raised me into the man that I am today, without him I wouldn’t be half the person I am. I owe him my life. When I was feeling suicidal and wanted to end it all, he made sure he didn’t let me give in. He told me that when he was unconscious after the accident, he could see a bright light calling for him to come towards. He said he had to use every bit of strength to make sure he didn’t go towards it to make sure he was still here to be with me and my sisters.I love this man more than anything else in the world, and I only want to see him smiling and walking again.

So please, whoever you are - family, friends or strangers, I hope that you can follow my father, and the rest of his family on this road to rebuilding him into the great man he is- so he can see how many people do love him and appreciate everything he has done for them. I haven’t got a goal at the moment for the donation milestone, but I know the implementation of a prosthetic leg is certain, as well as physiotherapy to get him strong enough to walk again.Any donation is gratefully appreciated. I love you all, whoever you are. All life is precious, we should live life everyday like it’s the last and smile regardless of whats going on. He nearly died. I’m just so thankful he’s alive.
