SAVING WILLOW

Donation protected
Willow got really sick last October and stopped eating. Myself and my partner took her to the vet and was told it was a chest infection, and sent home with antibiotics. Over that week nothing changed so we took her to a different vet because that one was shut and she wasn’t getting any better and her health decreasing rapidly, this vet told us that she had a grass seed stuck in her throat which they removed. Then they thought she would start eating. The next day we noticed that her eyes started to flicker she lost the use of her tongue, we took her straight back and their advice was to put her down. Putting her down wasn’t an option for us, so we asked to be referred to an emergency vet, they referred us to a clinic that had no availability for over a month and she clearly wasn’t going to make that, so we called around and found an emergency vet on anzac hwy willing to take her straight away. The vets wouldn’t refer us so the emergency vet called them and made them refer our dog willow. They straight away found what was wrong with her she had meningitis. The back of her brain started to swell which caused her to lose the use of her tongue and the ability to swallow. She was put on steroids straight away with a strong dose to make the swelling on her brain go down, it’s been a real long road to recovery and it’s still not over. She has since regained the use of her tongue but her swallow is to weak to push the food all the way into her stomach. We have been syringe feeding her for months now and trying Daily to get solids into her, but she kept bringing most of it back up and it’s started to look like the meningitis was starting to come back so we took her in last night to get a feeding tube put into her. This should put weight back on her fast. She’s been fighting for a long time and we hope this is the answer. We both are just about out of money. All up to date now we have spent thousands of dollars trying to save our willow. We’re not going to give up on our protector. She’s been the best dog she’s loyal she’s got a one of a kind personality that couldn’t be replaced.
We have spent pretty well all the money we have on keeping our willow alive. we have spent seven thousand so far on procedures and medication. Lately she has started to relapse with her meningitis and we’re worried that we might not be able to afford the on going costs of medication & food. Also the prescription diet she is on at the moment is 80 dollars each week. And us being a young couple recently moving out home times are tough, any help would be greatly appreciated by myself and Ashlee.
