Staying On Our Feet

Donation protected
Hi my name is Elizabeth and this is the story of what my life is like right now. Growing up my parents always joked about moving to Florida once I graduated college. Well they did! They moved down here last March into a cozy little 55+ community. I moved in “temporarily” in May to help them get settled into their dream. My parents got their dream for about 100 days. Just after they were finally feeling at home, my mom’s ongoing health problems took a sudden turn for the worse and she died July 10th after being in the hospital 17 days. Not long after the funeral my dad and I put the house they bought up for sale. Not only did it feel empty without mom... it also was part of a 55+ community and technically I’d already lived there longer than I was allowed to. Thankfully it has worked out that they have let me stay to take care of my dad until the house sells. And we have reached the point in my dilemma. Due to medical bills from both my mom and my dad... moms funeral costs, overall cost of living, cost of traveling to and from Ohio because of the funeral and the hurricane, a hospital stay for Dad in September, and both Dad’s and my ongoing health problems we really don’t have much money at all. Not until the house closes and not enough to pay bills/lot rent. We were holding on until the house sold but every time we’ve gotten a bite from a buyer they’ve basically ghosted us. Our community’s main office assured us that our place would sell before now. While in this season of waiting Dad and I have cut more and more things out of our already sparse spending life. We have been very cautious with our money and still the bills are adding up mostly due to medical reasons. Today Dad told me that we will be losing our phones as soon as probably tomorrow. He was trying to protect me by not telling me about how bad it’s gotten sooner but it’s getting bad. He told me today after a lot of pressing that we would need $5,000 just to be caught up on all the bills. Dad and I are both rather proud and private and not necessarily very good at asking for help but I’m requesting that if you have a little to spare please help. Every little bit helps and we really need to get back on our feet and not lose what little we have left. We are trying our best to be positive and to keep moving forward which is hard to do while waiting. Thank you for reading this. Love and Hugs ~Elizabeth
