Shelby Miller needs our help!
Donation protected
I got to know Shelby first as an admirer & customer of
her beautiful jewelry at the Squamish & Whistler Farmer's Markets. Then I was
at an event in Whistler Shelby was the keynote speaker. She told her amazing
story about her emergency liver transplant when she was 14 after a swim meet
when they thought she had food poisoning and it was Liver failure! It is a
fantastic story. If that wasn't enough she has a follow up story of how that
liver eventually was dying and she needed another transplant in 2007. She
explained the process of going in front of a board to plead her case. What
struck me was her compassion for the other people needing a liver she was
competing with and how very grateful she was for the organ understanding that
someone needed to die in order for her to live. She has continued to be a
poster child for the BC Organ Donation Cause and a big promoter of the Canadian
Liver Foundation. She designed a liver bracelet to raise awareness & funds
for the CLF's education & research programs. She is truly one of the
strongest, most genuine, upbeat creative souls on the planet. Shelby has had a
set back with her health and her immune system is acting up so that some weird
things are happening to her eyes in particular. Doctors are working hard to
solve the mystery along with the support of some key alternative medicine
practitioners. This fundraiser is a way for Shelby's many fans to show our
support and help her back to health with some funds to cover the expensive
treatment. Please feel free to give whatever you are comfortable with and share
a story of Shelby and what she means to you and please Pay it Forward!
