You DID it! Thank-you so much to all the supporters who helped Sylvia Dixon travel to Brazil to compete in this week's International Equestrian Federation (FEI) Children's International Show Jumping Challenge, to be held in Brazil from December 10 to 15. We cannot express the depth of our gratitude for your support and generosity.It's been a long road, with years of dedication and hard work. But at 14, Sylvia Dixon has managed to qualify to compete in this demanding event which brings together some of the world's top child riders.
Riding on her feisty little chestnut mare, Waterside Royal Sensation, she qualified 9th in the world, after a series of qualifying competitions around the world on the same track. The top 10 world qualifiers automatically qualify, along with one rider from each of the nine FEI zones.
She is thrilled and honored to be able to represent South Africa internationally, one of two riders in South Africa to make it.
We managed to reach our fund raising target just before her departure!
Unfortunately her mother, Robyn Dixon had to remain in Johannesburg to cover the momentous events of the Nelson Mandela state memorial, lying in state and state funeral.
But travelling with her coach, Kirsty Loots, and top SA rider, Meg Hodgson, it's a great team. They will do the best they can for South Africa.
