Chris Smiley is well known in the Denver running community, and well known for his fun-loving spirit, and great attitude. Smiley lives up to his name!
In all of his 34 years, he has lived life to the fullest, and was using his energy in a number of positive ways, including running races such as The Colfax Marathon and the Cherry Creek Sneak. It was during the CCS 10-mile race that Smiley passed out. While he finished the race, it was the first sign that a storm was coming in regards to his health.
His struggles continued, mostly manifesting themselves during strenuous runs. He continued to work, play with his kids, and love life. Then in late summer of this year, he lost his voice, and had a nagging sore throat. A trip to the Doctor revealed throat cancer.
