Hunter's Straits of Magellan Swim

My name is Carol Wright. I am the mother of 17 year old Hunter Wright, a local Enterprise High School Senior from Redding, CA. Hunter is an amazing open water swimmer. He is making "waves" in the open water swimming arena. Amongst his many accomplishments he has completed 19 Alcatraz crossings, 8 Golden Gate Bridge swims, Three 10k swims with one of those held in Israel and he swims without a wetsuit placing first in almost all his swims. Hunter works very hard in training; he is a straight A student, well spoken, confident and handsome. Hunter has been offered an incredible opportunity to swim the Straits of Magellan in Chile. After extensive scrutiny of Hunter's abilities, physicals by his doctor and a lot of documentation on his training, we just received the approvals from the Chilean Navy for his window of opportunity to swim in January 2014. We recognize the fact this is an extremely dangerous swim. He trains very hard and is preparing for this journey. As his parents we pay 100% of his specialized training and make several trips a month driving 3 ½ hours one way to San Francisco for training. We need to raise the funds to send this talented, ambitious young man on this incredible journey to Chile. Upon completion of the swim, Hunter will be the youngest swimmer (ever) in the world to accomplish this swim, without a wetsuit. This is an extreme swim as the water temperatures are between 36-40 degrees. Time is really of the essence as we will need to raise a lot of money quickly, to pay the Chilean Navy the fee required for this swim, his plane trip and accommodations. This is really an accomplishment that the entire country would embrace. Thank you for your consideration.
