I came into this world by way of a difficult birth. Shortly after I drew my first breath, I was left deaf and hard-of-hearing. Growing up, I overcame many personal obstacles like understanding speech, verbally expressing myself, and navigating the Deaf and hearing worlds. I persevered and made it through the bullying of high school, graduated college, and even completed a graduate degree in Deaf Education and Deaf Studies.
Today, I work with some of the most engaged and determined students, and together we've built a strong and vibrant ASL program. The North Middlesex ASL program's enrollment has skyrocketed as my students' enthusiasm has spread to the rest of the student body. I feel fortunate and accomplished as I reflect back on my achievements and successes.
Unexpectedly, my hearing aid broke last week, cutting me off from the hearing world, because I have lost my ability to communicate with co-workers, friends, loved ones, and the public who don't have the talent of communicating with their hands. In replacing my hearing aid, I have encountered quite a hassle, as most insurance plans only cover hearing aids for minors and seniors.
Since this is an unexpected expense I need help covering the cost. I would appreciate any help that you can offer to help me meet this very large cost for something that is very necessary to me.
Love & Hugs,
Kyle Kiser
