My husband Michael was diagnosed with Dilated Idiopathic Cardiomyopathy on April 24 2013. Michael was a healthy 47 year old proud USMC vet that had a virus attack his heart. He is in advanced heart failure that is now affecting his kidneys. His heart is so damaged that a transplant is required. Since he is at risk for sudden death, he had an internal defibrillator implanted in August. We live 200 miles round trip from the Heart Failure Center that we go to weekly and 400 miles from the University of Minnesota where the transplant, God willing, will occur. Our car is a 1999 Ford with a slipping transmission and other issues. I am afraid to drive to his appointments for fear it will break down, but we have no other options. We have exhausted all of our resources. This has been devastating on so many levels. In the next two weeks we have multiple appointments including going to the U of MN for an official transplant evaluation along with officially getting on the transplant list. The process will take 3-5 days. The gas, hotels, food, medical co pays, and bills have become over whelming. During the transplant we are required to stay in the area for three months! I have limited income due to being his full time caregiver. I've created this transplant fund so Michael can focus on what is important, without having to worry about the finances. Please keep us in your prayers. Any donation is very gratefully received, thank you! Semper Fi ! Diagnosed with Burkitts Lymphoma in February.
