Getting Oscar to Australia

We are Australians living in the UK.  In the first weeks of 'lockdown' we rescued Oscar from being destroyed.  Oscar is 10 year old Border Collie Beagle cross, Oscar was abused by the original owners when he was a puppy...  He was then adopted by a lovely family who  after 8 years decided to foster children.  This is where it all went wrong for Oscar.  He bit one of the foster children who had particularly high needs.

The owner was besides themselves in having to make a choice between the children and Oscar.  They chose, and through the dog walkers facilitation to give him up to The Dogs Trust.  They had little hope for Oscar due to his age and temperament.  They were in bits that Oscar could be destroyed.
This is where we stepped in. We fostered/adopted Oscar on the spot without knowing his personality.  O boy, he does he have a very stressful personality but we understand why. We also believe that every being needs a peaceful senior life.  We are also of the view that if we didn't take Oscar he may not be with us today.  We have got through our struggles with him but so glad he is with us.    We are all learning to live with each other and are now inseparable.
It has been a very difficult period in the UK this time and due to Covid and the travel restrictions we have missed the passing of relatives in Australia and made the very uncomfortable decision to leave the UK and return.
We can not abandon Oscar, he is now part of our family.

Oscar is a difficult boy but we believe he has mellowed and is a far better animal for being in our care.  He is calmer, listens to instructions and now shows us affection.  A long way off from when he landed on our doorstep.  To cut a long story short.  We love him!

We have now enquired about trying to get Oscar back to Australia.  We are at a loss as we can barely afford our own fares, I now understand that pet transport companies can charge the earth as it is the emotion attached and the grief and loss if you don't remain a 'family'.

We are seeking help through this platform as we have no other means to get this together.  it is not something we would have considered until we realised the costs with getting Oscar home and how much he means to us.

Not sure what else to say but.....  thanks for listening
