Support for Ian's Recovery

Donation protected
This holiday season has been life-shattering for my nephew and sister's family.

On December 7th, they received a call from Ian’s endocrinologist and their lives changed forever. Ian (their youngest of 3) was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor that grows out of the stalk of the pituitary gland known as a craniopharyngioma.  Ian was admitted just two days later to Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital at NY Presbyterian, Columbia Medical Center.   The tumor we believe has been successfully removed after nearly 7 long hours of surgery.

We are so thankful to the Neurosurgeons and ENT surgeon for using an alternate operating method known as advanced endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery.  Ian’s recovery continues to be complex and is taking a slow and steady route.

Today is December 30th and Ian fights every moment to recover.   The next chapter in recovery will be at an acute rehab facility that helps children with brain trauma and injury where he will receive help from occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech therapists, and other medical specialists.

As you may know, insurance can only cover so much of the major medical costs and so at the urging by family and friends wanting to know how they could help, we have created this GoFundMe page.  Funds raised will help Ian and his family tremendously during this initial treatment for recovery.  There are still many unknowns right now because Ian can not stay awake without the aid of drugs. But, once Ian is stabilized, we hope for a quick & speedy recovery of full brain and body function over these next several months.

Bonnie & Jeff have shared with us:
"Our hearts lift up every time he hears us, and we remind him always how much he is loved.  We remain positive that through love, prayer and the best rehab, Ian will beat this and fully recover."

"We do not know from day to day where this journey will take us, all we know is that our family will never leave his side and will be there every step of the way.   He is our miracle and through his incredible strength, we are able to follow his lead and remain strong, focused and positive."

Thank you to all those that have expressed their support and concern.  We are going to do everything possible to help get Ian back to being  the incredible & kind-hearted young gentleman that he is...and hopefully back in the game!
