Debbie Milgate-Moyer Medical Fund

Debbie Milgate-Moyer has been diagnosed with CMML (Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia). It is an advanced form of MDS. It is a condition that affects the bone marrow and it's ability to produce healthy blood cells. Deb is having issues with creating healthy red blood cells so she experiences anemia, bruising and shortness of breath.

Deb's doctor is preparing her for a bone marrow transplant. 2 out of her 3 brothers are a perfect match! She should be a good candidate based on her age (most people suffering from this condition are in their late 70's or 80's) and the fact that other than the issue with creating red blood cells her stem cells are working pretty good. Deb is a patient of Dr. Michael Becker from Strong Hospital (University of Rochester). And yes that is the same hospital that Deb does all the fund raising for - only her funds go to the Children's portion of the hospital.

While Deb faces some intense chemotherapy we are very optimistic about her future. You all know Deb and know she is a strong person and will fight this with all she has. We appreciate all your thoughts and prayers.

Deb and Rick Moyer face many months of intense treatment with high medical bills that have only just begun to come in. Your support will help them through this crisis. Debbie has been serving our community for so many years in raising money for a number of charities, most specifically Golisano Children's hospital, in memory of her brother Tim whose murder has continued to go unsolved. She has taken her grief from this loss and turned it into a positive community sharing, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years. It's time to help Deb and Rick now as they fight her battle against cancer.
