Hi, everyone! About 2 weeks ago our sweet Kylie got diagnosed with Larynx Cancer. At the age of 23, this is the unthinkable to anyone in her life. Kylie has found her passion as a teacher and basketball coach. She gives it her all not only as a teacher and coach, but as a friend, daughter, sister, and aunt. She has the kindest, most caring soul. Here's her story.
Last summer Kylie began to struggle with voice issues. She visited several doctors who all gave their opinion but none of which helped her. Over time she eventually had to use pen and paper to teach, coach and just overall communicate. Finally, she met a doctor who just refused to give up on her. He found a cyst in her throat which led to surgery. Once the cyst was sent in for testing, it was confirmed that she has Larynx Cancer. Kylie is the youngest patient her doctors have ever seen with this type of cancer. Thankfully, she has an amazing team of doctors surrounding her who are determined to provide her with the best treatment.
After her doctors discussed best options for treatment, they initially gave her two options- surgery, which was too dangerous and could risk her losing her voice long-term, or radiation. Kylie, her family, and doctors agreed that radiation was the best option. She will begin treatment July 5th and it will be Monday-Friday for 6 weeks at Emory Hospital in Midtown, Atlanta.
With your support, the money will go towards the 6 weeks of radiation treatment, weekly check-ups, CAT scans, MRI's, gas for the long commute, and the follow-ups that will come.
Our ultimate goal is for Kylie to focus on getting healthy and kicking butt. We know she is strong and she is a fighter. But to relieve some of the stress, we are asking for your monatary support. Anything and everything is so, so appreciated! Thank you!!!
