We live in Río Grande, Puerto Rico, up on the side of El Yunque. We got slammed pretty hard by back-to-back hurricanes IRMA and MARIA in September. While our home suffered no significant damage, OUR NEIGHBORS were not as fortunate.
MARIA ripped the entire roof off of their house and scattered the roof across our yard. In the process, their roof totaled 2 of their cars.
Without a roof, and with all the rain that MARIA brought, they lost the contents their home ... kitchen cabinets, bedding, appliances ... most everything.
Their "roof" right now is a layer of tarps. And every time it rains, they are up on the roof the next day putting out more tarps.
They are applying for FEMA aid ... But that will only get them another metal roof ... in who knows how many months.
Given where we live, they really need a concrete roof, not another metal one.
All proceeds from this campaign will go directly to Nina and Benito, and their family, to help them get back onto their feet after this horrible catastrophe.
