A Christmas Miracle For Mama

Donation protected
We left Casa Grande, AZ USA the day before Thanksgiving to have a holiday vacation in Germany to experience the famous Christmas market in Europe. There were six of us, mom, dad, brother, 2 family friends and myself. We planned a 20 day vacation trip so we can give mom and dad the best time ever. Mom is 86 and dad is 84 years old. They are the love of my life! It was a wonderful experience meeting different people from all walks of life, learning the German culture, speaking bits and pieces of the language. It was 2 days before we leave for home that mom had a very bad case of stomach ache that we’ve decided to take her to the ER at 3 am. They gave her pain meds but the pain was still very intense. At 8 am in the morning, my mom complained of chest pain and she had a heart attack and thank God they were able to revive her. St. Josef hospital in Rüdesheim Germany is not equipped to perform the stent procedure so they transferred mom to the nearest St. Josef hospital which is in Wiesbaden by ambulance. By the time we got to the hospital, they already did the angiogram and angioplasty. After 2 days, the hospital called us at the hotel and told us to go there right away because mom had another heart attack. She was on respirator when we arrived and it was so heart wrenching seeing her fight for her life. I whispered in her ear that we were there praying with everyone and that we love her so much. At that time, we requested for a priest to bless mom. The doctor was giving her 10% survival rate only because her kidney was failing as well. We stayed with mom all day , held her hand, prayed with her and kept asking her to fight. My mom is a fighter and I truly believe that she wanted to live for our family. After a day, she was taken out of respirator and thank God she’s breathing on her own. We’ve been here in Germany for over a month now and bills and expenses are piling up. Mom is still in ICU and we don’t know when she’ll be able to come home with us. We are hoping and praying soon so we can take care of her in the US. We don’t have travel insurance, they want us to pay for medical expenses upfront so it’s really hard for all of us. I’ve been asking our friends back home for financial help as well because we are running out of our means. The hotel owner and staff has been very nice to all of us trying to accommodate us the best way they can. They treat us like their own family. The kindness of everyone will never be forgotten and will always be appreciated. Unfortunately, the hotels will be closed for business after January 3rd and will not reopen until March of 2018. All business are on break since the season is over. The owner said that he will help us find an apartment for rent if we need to stay longer. When mom gets released from the hospital, she will need medical equipment and staff to transport her to the US. We don’t have any means to pay for that and it’s very expensive. We went to the US Embassy to ask for any kind of financial assistance but they have no funding at all. We are looking at every alternative including the American Red Cross but still no response. Our parish priest from AZ advised us to go to this site hoping that we can get some financial help to help us get home to the US and for mom’s medical assistance. We are desperate but we are hanging on to our faith. I’m willing to give my own life to mom so she’ll live. Please help us pray for mom’s recovery and pray for our family for guidance and strength. Any help from anyone would be very much appreciated. God Bless us all! P.S. I know this is a long shot but if Oprah Winfrey, Ellen deGeneres or Tyler Perry can read this, I’m asking for your help to get us home. Thank you and God Bless. Merle Arias
