Jupiter came to HALO as a stray… only to find out a few days later we found out she was dumped by her owner.
She was noticeably sick… couldn’t hold anything down and whimpered in pain. We immediately took her to the vet and they suspected she had an obstruction so after no response to medication, on Sunday at 4PM, she underwent exploratory surgery.
The news came hours later that it was the second hardest surgery our vet had ever gone through. She had an undistinguishable object not only lodged in her small intestine but that had wrapped around and perforated the intestine causing leakage to her gut. She was hours away from death and she had to have 1 foot of her intestine removed.
The prognosis for an obstruction is dismal and when compounded with a perforated intestine her chances were low but none of us could give up on such a fighter.
Today she still fights to live and even though she made it through surgery, she has a very bumpy road ahead before we know if the surgery is successful and not to late.
She spends her days at the vet on IV fluids and medications and every night she spends wrapped in the arms of her foster mom giving her all the love she deserves praying she makes a recovery.
Her surgery is complicated and her care is not finished and we need your help to recover some of her medical expenses.
This girl, not even known to us until Friday, did not deserve to be abandoned on her death bed. She deserved someone to fight for her and HALO will always be that for as long as we can.
Our Angel Medical Fund saves animals just like Jupiter and gives them their fighting chance to live but please we do need your donations to keep the fight going.
We will pick her up again at 10PM tonight and we will keep going because no life deserves to not be fought for and we believe in Miracles!
