This is No Name. That is what the vet called him. My kids call him Mack. My husband, Rick, found him cowering underneath his truck at work December 15. He seemed scared, hungry and in desperate need of help.
We took Mack to the vet and found out that he is about one year old. He has a fractured and dislocated hip. The vet says that requires surgery. Estimated cost is $1800 to $2200.
We have tried to find Mack's owner. He clearly has been cared for by someone and I am certain they miss him greatly. He is super sweet, house broken, gets along with cats and other dogs and loves kids. He is perfect.
The vet believes he was hit by a car because there had to be extreme force to cause the fracture and the dislocation. It breaks my heart to think someone hit him and left him there.
The vet checked for a chip. There isn't one. He does not have a collar which makes us wonder what happened and how did he get away from his owner. He is not neutered.
We thought by now we would have found Mack's owner. The surgery can not wait any more so we scheduled it with St. Francis for Tuesday, December 26. This is Mack's Christmas present. I know he is in pain because he whimpers once in a while. He also whines when he has to go outside to do his business. We have to help him up because he has a difficult time getting up on his own.
So far we have paid $200 for X-rays, flea treatment and medication. There was a deep wound on his other leg that has been healing well with ointment and antibiotics. Other than that, he is very healthy.
