Help for Shayne

Donation protected
Shayne is a 4 year old boy that has had a tough first 4 years of his life. His mother is a childhood friend of our daughter who has been part of Shayne's life since birth. When Shayne was 18 months old my daughter started picking him up for days at a time trying to help his mother have a break, we started seeing signs that he was not in a good place. Everything my daughter would go to pick him up he was always in a play pin usually crying, he was always in a dirty diaper and we having a lot of issues with going to the bathroom, at 18 months he was not talking at all. My husband and I decided with the help of our daughter we would let Shayne come live with us because it was obvious his was not being taken care of. He came to live with us and I forced his mother to go with us to the doctor where the doctor noticed fresh track marks on her arms and informed us that the child was malnutrition. We kept him for a few mouths before Child Protective Services got involved took him away from us. Come to find out the home he was living in with his mother not only where they selling meth but also shooting up meth. This was very hard on us and him because for the first time he had a normal life and a normal room and was not kept in a play pin and could run and play like a child should. He was finally placed with his father whom had not to this point been a part of his life. He continued to come to our house on the weekends and came to call my husband and I, mimi and paw paw. CPS was called on his father several times over a years time and the father could never pass a drug test. The end of January in 2013 he was removed from his father and placed in foster care. Because we are not blood relatives and my husband and I had a few things on our record we were told he could not come live with us. We were not able to see him but were told he would ask for us all the time. The beginning of June one of the attorneys in the case called and told us that if we didn't hire an attorney and step in he would be lost in the system for ever. Shayne was not doing very well in foster care and the foster mom had requested him to be removed from her home. We got a loan $2500.00 and hired a great attorney. We went to court and pled our case to the judge and even thou CPS didn't want him placed with us the judge granted us custody and ordered CPS to place him with us in 4 days. Shayne came to live with us at the end of June and has been with us every since. He is doing very well with us, CPS, his therapist and the attorneys all say they see a big difference in his behavior and he is doing great. We now are at the point that the parents are going to lose their rights and we are going to file to adopt him. We have to this point gotten no help financially from the state and with extra cost and a loan to pay beck are struggling to buy groceries each week. We have to come up with an additional $1500.00 to pay the attorney to help us through he adoption process. There is no way we can come up with this money. Our families are hard working, honest people and hate to ask for help but for Shayne will we do anything to keep him with us where he belongs. We both have full jobs thanks you looking please share this with all your friends and family. God bless
