For Jeremy's Sake

Donation protected
When Jeremy was 7 years old he was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. At age 19 it became very brittle and very hard to manage. As a result he has developed high blood pressure, gastroparesis, kidney failure, and heart problems. He is currently taking hemodialysis 3 times a week, for four hours each visit. He also is on the lists for a pancreas and kidney transplant. He began using an insulin pump in February. Upon receiving it, he went from being hospitalized weekly, to no hospital visits for 6 weeks.
Unfortunately on May 21st, after returning home from hemodialysis, Jeremy took a turn for the worst. He arrived at Baptist South where he was put in a medically induced coma. After three days, he was taken off the ventilator and off sedation medication, only to not awaken till Friday May 31st. He was released from the hospital but was and has continued to have more visits, being out only one day at best.
September 18th we thought we were in a dejvu moment. He was advised to come to hospital on Tuesday, September 17th from hemodialysis because of an elevated blood pressure. Upon admission his doctor as well as attending physician thought Jeremy would be there a few hours long enough to get the blood pressure down. He took another turn for the worst and was going through episode 2, similar situation from May. He was placed on ventilator, medically induced coma, with blood sugars reaching in the thousands. He recovered and was released from hospital. However we could tell that this had taken its toll on Jeremy medically. He just was not the same mentally, which was hindering him, physically and medically.
Today October 27, 2013 he has been moved to a regular room from episode three that began Monday October 21st around 6 am blood sugars, blood pressure shot up and breathing became very difficult. He was placed back on the ventilator and medically induced coma. He awakened Thursday October 24th, and is currently at Baptist South in Montgomery Alabama.
Before being released Jeremy will have to receive a feeding tube and will not be able to eat or drink anything by mouth until February. This is being done because the gastroparesis has damaged the muscles in his stomach even the more. He is a candidate for a Gastric Pacemaker, however the only Doctor with the capability to perform in this area is in Jackson Mississippi and his Alabama Insurance will not cover the cost. He was on his Dad's insurance only to be dropped from it in October. Prayerfully this will be available through his Gastro doctor in Birmingham at the Kirkland Clinic.
He also as well as myself would benefit with the monitor that sits beside my bed that is in sync with his insulin pump but the cost is $3000.00 and insurance want pay for it because it is not a medical need. In May it saved his life and life without it would put us back to waking up every two hours checking his blood sugar, have done this since age 7. The pump and monitor allows us to sleep and if anything happens throughout the night the pump tells the monitor the monitor that is beside my bed alarms and wakes me up.
We have a long road ahead of us and expenses will and have incurred on Behalf of Jeremy, we are soliciting donations to aid in our efforts of the medical journey we have faced, are facing, and will face. Your participation is not only requested but is very much welcomed. Whatever you do big or small, please just do:I am Jeremy's sole care provider and I need the support. This is and has been a very difficult time, and I know difficult times are ahead. But by God's Grace we are in this for the long haul.
