Imagine you are alone, handicapped, with special needs.... you can't handle yourself on your own, and survive day by day because you were abandoned by your parents or mother just because you were born with a special condition. You are alone, no one is beside you to take care of you, or even because you can not express yourself, what you feel, your needs, simply because the handicap does not allow it.
In El Salvador there is a place that has changed this crude reality many children face because they were abandoned because they have a condition and are handicapped, with special needs, many have encountered themselves as indigents.
The Asociación Padre Vito Guarato is a non profit private organization in El Salvador whose mission is to provide a permanent home for these children, adolescents, and adults with physical and mental handicaps that were left alone, to opt out of the responsable's life. It is founded in 1986, under Father Vito Guarato's inspiration and altruistic people that el Hogar del Niño minusválido abandonado, known today as Hogar Padre Vito Guarato.
This Home starts one day as Father Vito Guarato transits one of the streets of San Salvador, and is stunned to see a child with visible handicaps was feeding on left overs from trash. Moved by this gesture, he took this worriment and sought help from the community to put into march one of the most fabulous humanitarian projects in ElSalvador.
Since 1987 the Home has developed a very hard and complex task bringing about health, love and family warmth , through the special care for the special needs for LIFE to these babies, children , teens and adults that were left to fend for themselves. An impossibility!
The type of disadvantages we have are Chiari Sybdrome, Down Syndrome, Mental retardation, Cerebral Paulsy, Hydrocephalus among other accute ailments.
The program for these special needs of Hogar Padre Vito Guarato, offers our children: nutrition, medical attention, special education, physiotherapy, psychological attention, special care, healthy recreation, and enjoyment.
To guarantee the functioning of the Home and everything in between, that these children receive we have a budget of $1.5 million, which cover the expenditures of:
Energy: $ 4,500 a month
Propane gas: Up to $1,500 a month
Medicine: $ 11,000 a month
The investment per child is between $800 to $ 1,000 a month. We actually have 140 children, meaning we invest in their lives, $140,000 a month.
We also face with other expenses such as $1,400 in gasoline, and a budget for 1,200 pounds of laundry a day. We prepare and feed up to 4,270 meals a week, well distributed in breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.
We are in dire need to keep this home open and in full function. We need your help because only YOUR contribution will make possible that these abandoned children, will be cared for with the same quality of life, that the Home has always offered them.

Imagina que tienes algún tipo de discapacidad, no te puedes valer por ti mismo para sobrevivir en el día a día y fuiste abandonado por tus padres por haber nacido con una condición especial, te encuentras solo, sin nadie a tu lado que cuide por ti y no tienes la más mínima posibilidad de expresar lo que sientes y necesitas porque tu condición no te lo permite.
En El Salvador existe un lugar que ha cambiado la dura realidad de muchos niños que fueron abandonados por la condición y padecimientos complejos con las que nacieron llegando a encontrarse en un estado lamentable de indigencia.
La Asociación Padre Vito Guarato es una Organización Privada sin fines de lucro en El Salvador que tiene como misión proveer un hogar permanente a niños, adolescentes y adultos con discapacidades físicas y mentales que fueron abandonados. Nace bajo la inspiración del Padre Vito Guarato y personas altruistas que con él fundaron el Hogar del Niño Minusválido Abandonado, hoy Hogar Padre Vito Guarato.
Esta obra inicia cuando un día el Padre Vito Guarato transitaba por las calles y contemplo a un niño con discapacidades evidentes que recogía comida de la basura, conmovido se abocó a la ayuda de personas altruistas para poner en marcha uno de los proyectos humanitarios más importantes de El Salvador.
Desde 1987, el Hogar ha desarrollado una ardua labor brindando bienestar, amor y calor de familia a través de cuidados especializados de por vida a niños, adolescentes y adultos que fueron abandonados.
Los tipos de discapacidad de nuestros niños son: Síndrome de Chiari, Síndrome de Down, Retraso Mental, Parálisis Cerebral, Hidrocefalia entre otros padecimientos.
El programa de atención integral del Hogar Padre Vito Guarato ofrece a nuestros niños: alimentación nutricional, atención médica, educación especial, fisioterapia, atención psicológica, cuidados personalizados, recreación y sano esparcimiento.
Para garantizar el efectivo funcionamiento del programa de atención integral que reciben los niños, necesitamos de un presupuesto anual de $1.5 millones los cuales sirven para cubrir los gastos de:
Energía eléctrica $4,500 mensual
Gas Propano $1,100 a $1,500 mensual
Medicamentos: $11,000 mensual
Inversión mensual por niño: $1,000, actualmente tenemos 121 niños que equivalen a $121,000 mensuales
Gastos en combustible (Traslado de niños a sus diferentes consultas médicas): $1,400 mensual
Se lavan en promedio 1,200 libras de ropa al día.
Se preparan semanalmente 4,270 platos distribuidos en desayunos, almuerzos, cena y refrigerio.
NOS ENCONTRAMOS EN UNA SITUACION ECONOMICA DIFICIL, necesitamos de tu ayuda para seguir con esta obra de amor y misericordia, solo tu contribución hará posible que más de 120 niños que fueron abandonados y que hoy se encuentran en el Hogar sigan teniendo la calidad de vida con la que hasta hoy cuentan.
