First, let me say that you can help by donating to this page or if you feel more comfortable, you can mail a check to 490 Main Street Iva SC 29655. We also have a PayPal set up...just message me for details on that. I can send you the link. We also have a contribution pledge from someone that he/she will match every dollar given up to $300 (and she did)! Surgery was $2182...current already spent $433. Having got that out of the way...This is Dodger, that’s what his wonderful rescuer named him. He was found in a ditch last Wednesday 12/13/17 near Marietta SC/Travelers Rest/Greenville. Presumably hit by a car and forgotten. Todd and I have taken on his continued immediate care. He was rescued and cared for by a close friend and fellow rescuer who did what she could for him. Her vet took X-rays, but they were a little unclear, so our vet took another set of X-rays today and confirmed her concern. He not only has several fractures in his pelvis, but his pelvis is luxated from his spine. This has caused some damage to the bladder/nerve that runs to the bladder and urethra. He is in a lot of pain and cannot empty his bladder properly. Unfortunately, the damage that has been done to his bladder is irreversible, although may get a little better after surgery when pressure is taken off. He will need an FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) and a pin placed in the pelvic wing that is luxated. He is young, approximately 8 months old, so his Orthopedic Surgeon is confident that he will heal with kennel rest; although he will probably need to be on medication for incontinence the rest of his life and have a permanent limp. Time is of the essence so that his bladder issues do not worsen. We have found a specialist who will do his surgery tomorrow. Todd and I have a small farm dedicated to animals in need. We are not a 501c, I am a stay at home caregiver to our fur babies and my husband works his tail off to make sure we have what we need. We care for horses, donkey, goats, pigs, dogs, cats, and parrots. Some with special needs and therefore un-adoptable...others who are complete foster fails. I am part of an extensive network of people who dedicate their entire lives to make sure that those of God’s creatures that cannot do for themselves have good and happy lives and have voices when they cannot speak for themselves. Sometimes we need help doing what we do. If there is any way you can help Dodger, we would greatly appreciate it. Every penny helps.
