Elijah, Age 14, Leukemia

We are Elijah’s family. Elijah’s diagnosis is T-cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He was 1st diagnosed December 22 2013. He’s last day of chemotheropy was April 13 2017. On October 26 2017 we discovered his Leukemia relapsed. When cancer relapses it is much stronger then it was the first time. Elijah is currently undergoing Aggressive Chemotheropy and has been admitted in the Penn State Children’s hospital in Hershey since October 26 2017. He will receive 3 phases each being 28 days long of Aggressive Chemo in order to put him in remission then he will receive a Stem cell transplant also called a Bone Marrow Transplant (they are the same thing) the transplant is estimated to happen February 2018. If a donor is found. After the transplant He will under go more Aggressive Chemo. He more then likely won’t be coming home till late spring or early summer, at least. The transplant and recovery will be the hardest thing Elijah will ever have to do in his life so he can get a shot of *having* a life. During this time we have incurred and will continue to incur HUGE expense for his care as well as added living expense because 1 parent must reside near him during this time.
Please note: The full category available to select from is ‘Medical, Illness, Healing’. The category is abbreviated by the App for publication. While most if not all ‘medical’ bills for kemo-treatment are covered, the family has incurred and continues to incur huge expenses surrounding this situation. What used to be a 2-parent working household, has gone down to one, due to Elijah‘s mom needing to be present during treatment phases and surgery. Sometimes it’s a choice on what utility to keep on or groceries or childcare for Elijah’s sister etc. The gas alone, just to get back and forth from hospital is a great expense. This is one of the toughest things we all have had to face. We thank those who donate, pray, support or share this post because you make a difference in the lives of a family. We thank you ALL for your understanding and COMPASSION.
