Save the farm

Update to our “Save the Farm” Campaign 7th September 2020

Thank you to all who have made donations to help us keep the farm open.

We are pleased to say we reopened the farm on 15th August, however due to being closed for several months we are still in need of funding.

We need to get the farm back up and running as normal and we can't do that without your help! As well as the day-to-day running of the farm, we have general repairs to carry out on buildings and fences and due to the virus, we are having to purchase many items to allow us to open and be safe for all who visit.

The farm is so important to the city not only for our many visitors but also for education too, plus all of our many volunteers who give much of their time to help run the farm.
Keep watching our Facebook Page and Website Page for any updates.

Many thanks

From all the Trustees, Staff and Many Volunteers

For those of you who are not aware Gorse Hill City Farm is in danger of closing in the next few weeks unless it can secure vital funding.

It was one of a number of organisations who were selected for an initial dramatic cut in funding from the Leicester City Council which will then stop altogether by March 2021. The farm relies on the funding along with the low admission charges for its continued survival.

The farm has been open in Leicester since 1985 when a group of 30 local residents transformed overgrown allotments off Anstey Lane into the farm that now occupies this site.

Over the last two years, the Staff and Trustees have been working on ways to improve the farm’s sustainability to enable us to secure the much needed income to keep the farm successful. These improvements are ongoing and we are continuously trying to think up new ways of helping to increase our revenue.

The Staff and Trustees, who run the farm, are desperately trying to raise enough funds to keep the farm open so that they can continue to support school visits and offer a fun and educational day out for members of the public. We truly believe that with your generous donations we can overcome our current situation and work towards a brighter future for Gorse Hill City Farm.
