I'm very excited to be telling you about this special opportunity. My name is Zachery Cadiente and I am an 11 year old 6th grade student at Diamond View Middle School in Susanville, CA. I was nominated by my school, then interviewed extensively by People to People for this program. After checking my background and references they have selected me to become a People to People Student Ambassador to Australia.
July 2, 2014, I will join a delegation of students my age on a 20-day educational program that will take us all through the regions of Australia. Our curriculum will teach us about the history, culture, and people of the region. After all, there is no better way to learn about culture than to experience it firsthand, through home stays and school visits. We will be led by experienced teachers and engage in a wide variety of cultural encounters and adventures. We will snorkel the Great Barrier Reef alongside marine biologists, partake in Aboriginal culture and history, play cricket where the pros do, get a backstage pass to the world-famous Sydney Opera House, and so much more. I am paying my own way by raising money for this program. I will be having bake sales, crafting and selling holiday items, car washes, babysitting, reaching out to local businesses, friends, and family, as well as many other fundraising ideas.
