My brother-in-law, Angel Jimenez, was recently diagnosed with End Stage Kidney Disease and desperately needs a kidney transplant in order to survive. Angel has been a DACA recipient since 2013. He submitted his renewal on September 27th, 2017 which was rejected because he missed a signature on his application. My brother-in-law is a hard working husband and father of two beautiful children, who are three and two years old. The doctors at Good Samaritan Medical Center said because he is so young(22), he would be placed at the top of the transplant list. Ángel has been following each and every step directed by the medical staff in order to prepare himself for the transplant. One of these steps was to have all relatives find out what their blood types are in order to check compatibility with Angel, who is type A. During this step, Angel was informed that because he is losing his DACA in February, the hospital is no longer willing to follow through with his transplant unless he has $117,000 in his bank account for the procedure. My brother-in-law is a young, hard-working father of two who desperately needs financial support in order to go through with his kidney transplant. Angel has always been a kind-hearted and sweet guy. He would never hesitate to help people and always has a smile in his face. With the denial of Angel’s DACA renewal, not only are him and his family struggling with his health care coverage as he will have no way to be employed, but his family will suffer extreme financial and emotional hardship. It is imperative for my niece and nephew to have a healthy and thriving father by their side. Angel works very hard to support his family, but without his DACA he can’t continue his planned treatment and he can’t continue working to support his children and wife. Angel is the pillar of his home. He is the main source of financial income in their home as his wife is a stay-at-home mom. He is the main provider for his two children and his wife and they will go through a great hardship when his DACA expires. My brother-in-law, Angel is an inspiration to me- at such a young age, he has demonstrated being a responsible husband and father. He has demonstrated that he will put his wife and children before himself to ensure their well-being and happiness. I am very proud of the person that he is today. I would like to encourage you to please keep him in your daily prayers and to donate whatever you are able to, so that he can resume his health care, get his kidney transplant and continue taking care of his family. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or any of his family members. We all thank you and appreciate your support in any way that you give it!
