Families In Need

As we all know, hurricane Harvey did terrible damage to Texas. What I recently found out was how some folks very close to me lost everything. They tried going through proper channels with FEMA and their insurance and were denied or given nothing to help. In one case a friend and his two children received $400 from fema. One coworker has 4 kids, one of whom has cancer, and just lost his father last month. He also lost everything. Times like these make people feel like there is no hope. As I sit here getting ready to go through the holidays I am humbled at how little damage I suffered during the hurricane and how so many around me were affected so deeply. Because of this, I’m trying to raise some money, anything I can, to help some of the people around me, four families in particular (all with kids), get through the holidays a little more comfortably. My wife and I have donated clothes and furniture to some friends and now I am looking to see if anyone else would like to help out. I will be gathering up money and getting gift cards to give to them for the holidays to use how they need. During this wonderful holiday of family and love and giving, I am hoping to shine a light to some of those folks who feel they are trudging through darkness. We have all been through some dark times. Sometimes all we need is a little help from friends.
