Philippines Internship Support

2 years ago I started on a journey to become a Midwife.
The education process is a very rewarding challenge I have been excited to take on. Along with the demanding academic book work there is also an extensive clinical internship required to properly attain the skills in the program. Since the area I live in does not afford me very many opportunities to intern with local experienced Midwives, the best prospect is in a high volume birth center which specializes in midwifery internships.

So this brings me to why I need your help. After a long summer of government furloughs, and one very rough move (brought on by the furloughs) , I have exhausted all my funds we saved for this trip. My goal in the immediate future is to raise the money I need to purchase the plane ticket. After that the money will help to pay for the program fees and visa required while in the country.

I have been accepted into the internship program from March 1^st- May 30^th 2014. This 3 month internship will allow me to gain the hands on skills I will need to properly help mothers in our community.

The cost of the plane ticket is $950

Cost of the internship program monthly $850 x 3= $2550

Visa cost $150 (for the duration)

$500- Looking for a Doula, if you contribute $500 to my find you will get my services for free. You will of course need to be within my service area and due while I’m in the country. You will receive the same care my clients receive for a fraction of my regular Doula Fee. Please contact me for more information.

I’m Tesa, a Wife, Mother of six children, certified Doula and student Midwife. I served in USAF for 10 years, then the civil service for 2. After deciding to stay home with our children I quickly realized I had too much energy to not utilize it. I found that I was able to pursue avenues of community enrichment I never had time to partake in before. I found myself knee deep in a community rich with natural living families seeking access to better maternity care. The minute I experienced the work and interactions of Doula work, I was in my heaven. I found the place I was meant to be. Not far behind my Doula training did I feel the pull to become a Midwife. Every day I am affirmed that I have made a great decision and the “work” is so rewarding.
We live in a little town called Tehachapi in southern California. This community and the towns surrounding it are in great need for maternity care options. There are few Midwives that practice in this area, and even fewer Doctors that support natural birth practices.
