We have had to up the amount to be raised due to some additional invoices received. Jess continues to be here every day walking and playing with our most needy doggies...if we could pay with all of the dog kisses she received we would be all done and could fund the world!
It's 9:30 in the morning over at Austin Pets Alive, and all the doggies are barking for your attention. You might walk in and expect the sad truth, that almost none of the dogs have been out for the morning. Of course our amazing counselors are doing what they can, but with only four of them it's tough to get all of our 180+ dogs out before 11:30 hits. Yet when you walk up to a whiteboard, you notice that most of the dogs have been signed out for the morning... and they all have the initials "JB." While JB might stand for a lot of things, everyone here knows "JB" means Jess Borda is here, and your life is about to get a whole lot easier. In a way only she can, she simultaneously makes the lives of both the dogs and the counselors better.
So it goes without saying that we're all pretty appreciative of Jess Borda, and how can we not be? She has become one of our fundamental staples in the dog department over here at Austin Pets Alive. She's the head of the volunteer dog walking program, an active member in our Big Brother Big Sister program, and an avid member of the Dog Behavior Team. Almost every day, come rain or shine, Jess Borda is here at Austin Pets Alive making sure the doggies can get out to go to the bathroom as fast as possible. Jess is not only an amazing volunteer, but she's also become one of our friends.
Since Jess has always made our lives a bit easier, we were hoping to do the same for her. In August, Jess was assisting another volunteer with walking one of our dogs when she was severely bitten. Due to the severity of the bite, she was in the hospital for several days while her wounds were treated. The American healthcare system being what it is, this was not a cheap visit. Since Jess does so much for APA and its doggies, we were hoping to do the same for her by alleviating the burden of her medical bills. Can you help one of our most dedicated volunteers by contributing what you can toward this cost? Every penny helps!
