I never thought I would be here, EVER! Asking my friends and family for help. So here's the story. Got laid off in early July, and have been frantically searching for new employment ever since. One interview to date that did not lead to a job :( Kate and I have been trying to make ends meet with my small weekly unemployment check. That has been difficult not only because of my extensive medical bills from the surgery and hospital stay last April, but also because of her ongoing medical requirements for Type I Diabetes. Health insurance, rent, food ... it all adds up to a negative each month. Well, about 4 weeks ago we were running errands on a Friday evening when the transmission stopped working in my car! Really! Less than 100,000 miles on the car, and the transmission is dead. So, we have no transportation, and live in an area where public transportation is virtually non-existent. I have checked into collaborative services such as "relay rides" but not found success. Renting a car long term is obviously not an alternative. And, can't apply for credit to get the car fixed > who in their right mind would give a loan to somebody who is unemployed, right?? I have no network of friends established in Richmond, yet. We are having a difficult time, me especially, trying to get to interviews and doing the necessary networking to find a job! Which is why we really need working transportation. What happens if Kate has a medical emergency? THAT question keeps me up at night!!

Here's a photo of my poor car > it's sitting in my parking lot being lonely. As you can see, body is in great shape; and, so is the engine. Just passed annual inspection, too. Who knew??

I saw a news story about this website, so I thought I would "reach out" (I hate those words!) to my online network and ask for help. If you are able to give, no matter the amount, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart! If you cannot, I understand, and say thank you for your well-wishes and prayers.

Love to each and every one of you!
