Please Tell Christian I Love Her

"Please tell Christian that I love her," were Spencer's last words this afternoon (12/12/2017) after suffering a sudden and unexpected heart attack just before he took his last breath. Christian was the love of Spencer's life and Cecilia was the apple of his eye. In a moment this dedicated father and devoted husband was taken from the two people he loved the most Christian and Cecilia. Every life and every loss is difficult, this is one of those losses that creates such a huge wake of grief and loss for so many that it is diffucult to comprehend. It is equally remarkable to comprehend how one man made such a huge difference in this world to so many people. We are all devastated with and for Christian, Cecilia, the entire Wood Family, Spencer's enormous network of friends. Spencer never met a stranger, he was kind, loyal, fun, supportive, carefree and friendly. Spencer came from a large and very loving family, his relationship with his parents and sibilings was remarkable. Spencer's Dad made the time to take each of his three kids out for dinner once a month, making this ritual a weekly affair for Spencer's Dad. There is just no way Spencer could have been anything less than an excellent father to Cecilia.  I have rarely seen a father and daughter as close as Spencer was to Cecilia. It was a beautiful thing to see, and came as no suprise. Christian and Spencer made a great team and each of them contributed fully to raising Cecilia. The loss that Cecilia is feeling and will continue to feel for the rest of her life is devastating and uncomprehensible; it may only be matched by the huge love that Spencer had for her and showed her everyday of her short 10 years with him. She will miss him forever and he will be seen, felt, and present in her and through her for the rest of her life. Christian is one of my oldest and closest friends, we met the first day of our shophmore year in highschool in 1989, her first day at Carondelet High School. We made our way through most of lifes milestones together and remained close to each other's hearts when distance and duty seperated us. Spencer was a dear friend to me and my husband and my oldest daughter still calls him her "Apple."  Christian and Spencer moved to Truckee 2 years ago, Christian began working and commuting to and from San Francisco in the last year, she would typically spend 3 nights in the Bay and make the commute back to the mountains for the better part of her week;  Spencer continued to work from home and care for Cecilia while Christian was away.  There will be many tough days ahead for Christian, Cecilia, and the rest of the Wood Family. Spencer's birthday is less then a week away, there will be the first Christmas without him, the first new year, and Christian's birthday in the very near future. The goal of this fundraiser is to alleviate the stress and complications of funds during these painful days ahead, so that Christian can make the hard choices as they come without money being the limiting factor. Please consider dontating, every little bit will help. 100% of your donations will go directly to Christian; Go fund me does charge 2.9% plus 30 cents per donation, if you are making a large donation, or simply want to skip around the 2.9% please contact me or Michelle Zauss (Toomey) directly for an alternative way to donate.
