Growing the Dream: Cotten's Comforts

Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,
I am writing to share with you an exciting transition in my life and to ask for your participation in making that transition possible. Earlier this year, I began making herbal salves here in my home in Southern West Virginia. My love of plants and botany, my deep connections with my family and our history, and my desire to bring positive change and healing into the world all came together to create Cotten's Comforts; the tiny beginnings of what I hope to be a career in herbal medicine. I have received so much support and enthusiasm for the project that demand for Cotten's Comforts products quickly outpaced my ability to finance upfront materials cost! As I continue to grow Cotten's Comforts and expand the base of this so far wildly successful venture, I need a little extra help making the jump to selling in markets and local stores. I am also seeking to expand my own knowledge to include tinctures,Chinese and Ayurvedic medicines, preventative care, and holistic healing!
To further that goal, I am now applying to herb schools throughout Appalachia. This is a big shift for me, and I will be returning to an academic setting for the first time since 2005! I will continue to incorporate free to low cost access to any products I craft or services I offer. I see sliding scale or free access to those that need it as integral to a successful model of herbal practice for myself.

Here's how the money will be spent:
Goal: $7,000
$3,600- Blue Ridge School of Herbal Medicine Enrollment( or an equivalent program)
$2,000 - Cotten's Comforts materials (labels, packaging, beeswax, oils, etc.)
$1,400 - living expenses (gas, housing, etc.)
