On December 2nd, a blazing fire tore through a triple-decker home on Melville Ave., displacing 12 people, including children, and leaving them with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Among those impacted is a family with three children—ages 16, 12, and 7—who are facing unique challenges. One child attends a specialized school for neurodiverse students, and two require daily medications, including one with severe asthma.
The family lost everything in the fire, and while the Red Cross has provided a small stipend for food and basic clothing, it is not enough to cover housing, medical needs, and other essentials. They are currently in emergency housing but are actively searching for a 3-bedroom, 1-bathroom apartment in Norwood to start rebuilding their lives.
We are setting up this GoFundMe to raise funds for:
• Replacing additional essential items lost in the fire.
• Covering first, last, and security deposit on a new home once they find housing.
• Supporting other needs not covered by gift cards or small stipends.
At this time, the family does not have space for large physical donations or furniture.
The Ighodaro and Wells family is incredibly grateful for the outpouring of love and support they’ve already received, however, the road to recovery is long, and every contribution—whether big or small—can make a meaningful difference in helping them rebuild.
Thank you for showing kindness and compassion during this difficult time. Together, we can help this family and others move forward.
