FIGHT FOR FREEDOM

Richard is a father of a beautiful 6 year old little girl. He moved to Texas to create a better life for them by going to school for his certification in underwater testing/construction. One afternoon, coming home from school, Richard was in a car accident. Richard and his passenger were fine, but unfortunately, the driver of the other vehicle died at the scene and the passenger of the other vehicle was severely injured. They sent Richard to the hospital for blood tests to see if he had any drugs or alcohol in his system. The blood tests came back clean. The other driver (the one that passed away) was classified as a DUI driver. The justice system failed that day because they charged Richard, the sober driver with Manslaughter and Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon (his truck). Due to lack of money, he was unable to afford a decent attorney and ended up with a 15 year prison sentence. His mother is a very good friend of mine. We worked together for years and she had to leave her 23 year career due to a genetic disease that caused her to lose her vision. She had moved to Texas with Richard so that he could help take care of her. After they sentenced him to 15 years, his mother moved back to Arkansas to be with friends and family. I took up the cause in March of this year and wanted to do whatever I could to help prove Richard's innocence. After all, if I were blind, and one of my children needed help, I would hope that someone would step up to the plate and help me. I was on a mission... I gathered all of the evidence I needed to prove his innocence. I sent my research to the President of the Innocence Project and after his careful review (4 months) he decided to take the case. It was such a blessing to hear him agree with us that Richard should NOT be in prison!!! We have hired him as Richard's personal attorney and he is ready to start the process to get Richard exonerated, but freedom does not come free. We need to raise the money in order to get this case to the Supreme Court of Texas and bring Richard home to his daughter, his mother and his life. Please help us Fight for Freedom! $20, $10, or whatever you can spare, please donate. Richard has already been in prison for 2 years. That is 2 years too long for an innocent man to sit in prison and miss out on his daughter's life.
