4th Annual Bash for Nick Urbanek

Donation protected
On December 18, 2013 my life changed forever. My brother Nicholas Urbanek lost his battle with addiction. As many of you know this is an epidemic and effect too many families. On August 12th we are holding the 4th annual "Bash for Nick" to raise money for Teen Challenge. Teen Challenge is a structured, successful long-term residential program for those battling addiction - through spiritual, academic, and vocational training. Teen Challenge is one of the oldest, largest and most successful drug recovery programs of its kind in the world.  Since my brothers passing, we have been able to donate to Teen Challenge in his memory. We have raised $22,000 over for Teen Challenge in honor of Nick.

Nick and I grew up in a loving and caring family, he played sports all his life from bowling, basketball, baseball, and softball, and he had this overwhelming love for animals and children. Nick graduated from UMASS Amherst in 2002 with a degree in business administration and finance. Six weeks before graduating my bother found our father who had passed away. At that point, our family realized that he would never overcome the passing of our father. A year later we found out that he was a heroin addict. For the ten years to follow, he was in and out of rehab to battle this addiction to drugs. He would often tell us how much he hated it and wanted to beat the demons within him, but that never came to realization for him. We as a family, even though, we stood by Nick through his trials and tribulations feel that by helping others, it makes us feel that he hasn't left this world in vain.

Please help us make the 4th annual “Bash for Nick” the most successful year yet. Through Nick’s battle with addiction, I always thought he was invincible and since his passing I have always believed that I could have done more to help him.

Six months after Nick's passing, I was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of breast cancer. During my treatment I stayed in Boston at the Hope Lodge for over a month. Hope Lodge offers cancer patients and their caregivers a FREE place to stay while getting treatment. I will be forever blessed for Hope Lodge and half of our proceeds will be donated to Hope Lodge.

Please help us, help others who are battling either addiction or cancer, Any contributions would be much appreciated.

Sincerely,
Nicole Urbanek
