Namibia is a popular country among other southern African countries because of its huge tourist population. With more than a hundred thousand tourists visiting the country annually, one would think that the employment rate in the country is pretty decent, but unfortunately this is not the case.
Swakopmund plays a major role in tourism here in Namibia. The town with its old fashioned German buildings and its location just by the coast makes it the must be place for anyone who's ready to experience a colourful and cultural African experience. This allows for large amounts of people to start up their own tourism businesses and numerous people to get jobs, but unfortunately the majority of people to get the jobs are male. That there is what We are about we are trying to create jobs for women in a small part of our town.
Most of these women have little to no education and don’t have the ability to get hard labor jobs. So they make and sell art on the streets, but this is illegal and their little businesses are put to an end. We have been working with these women for the past 7 years and know all that they have been, because we have suffered the same fate.
We plan to open a cultural guesthouse that will showcase a lot of the African Arts and Craft from a group of women. It will be the first of its kind in our town with African rythm dancing by the fire side and handmade arts and craft. The art will be made by the women and they set their own prices.
The guesthouse will also be used as a tour center, a place where you could book from different indigenous tours that go around the town of Swakopmund Namibia. With your help this company will be the first of it's kind.
The funds we raise are going to go into paying for the building, furniture and utilities. We know it is a large goal we have set, but with your help we could reach it. You are welcome to donate as much as you can. Your donation go to an account in the United where one of our associates is based. He will ensure that the funds are safely sent down to us here in Swakopmund.
