It's no secret that our community has a severe problem with strays. On any given day, a devastating number of animals are abandoned, hit by cars, and found giving birth on these streets. Some are extremely ill while ill healthy and full of life.
When this campaign was first started, we were just a bunch of animal loving spouses whose husbands (and everyone else around us) thought we were crazy (and they were probably right). Spotting a stray on the side of the street was just too hard to turn away from so we didn't. We picked it up, took it to the vet, and posted on community pages in an effort to find it a forever home. Once we succeeded, we did it again, and then again.
Each stray we pick up is bathed, dewormed, vaccinated, blood tested, fixed etc. and placed in foster care until while we find their perfect forever home. We supply foster families with food, supplies such as collars, leashes, kennels, bowls etc., and medical treatments.
Although you can’t put a price tag on saving a life, realistically it is extremely difficult for to maintain financially and sometimes we spend money that we don’t have. It's heartbreaking to have to pick and choose which animals to help simply because we can not afford it.
This campaign was created in hopes of supporting our ongoing efforts in helping Sicilian strays off the streets. Any little bit helps, even a dollar. Below are just a few of stories of the animals we have had the pleasure of rescueing and an example of what we can continue to do with your help.
