Our beloved Rowena "Weng" Cabang Vongsady was taken from all of us due to a rare form of cancer and became an angel on November 30, 2017. She was only 42 years old. Weng didn't lose the battle against bile duct cancer, she won. Despite her cancer, she remained positive, strong, and to lived life to her fullest. We can all say that her cancer is finally gone and she will no longer be in pain.
She leaves behind her parents (Roland and Susana), her brothers (Ryan and Ronald), her sisters through friendship (you know who you are), a multitude of friends and extended family, but most importantly, her husband (Eric) and their three wonderful children (Cohen, Keilani, and Erienna).
While she was still in the hospital and we first heard that she was going to be admitted to hospice, I was able to spend some time alone with Weng and I asked her what she was most worried about. She said "my kids..."She wants them to continue their path in the direction she helped build. She wants them to live their life the way they want to live it, and to continue doing activities that they truly enjoy. Many of these activities and ways of life have a cost, as does battling cancer.
In addition to the pain of Weng leaving us so early, now Eric and his family are left with the substantial medical bills and funeral expenses.
This memorial fund was created to help ease the financial burden of someone who battled cancer for almost 4 years and was taken from us too early, to help to take care of Cohen, Keilani, and Erienna and possibly help them get a head start on their future.
Any donation, no matter how big or small is greatly appreciated. Although broken, we thank you with all of our hearts. Let's all continue to push forward and spread love because we all have a little #WengStrong in us.
