Dear friends,
Our friend Craig Johnson is having double cataract surgery this month, and they will also correct his astigmatism; he may also need a further procedure to deal with a potentially troubling retina problem called a macular pucker.
Craig's Medicare will not cover all the costs of the procedure, and he will have at least $2,700 out-of-pocket costs.
As you know, Craig spent a huge amount of his time this last year caring for his friend and ours, Corky Kittelson. You probably also know that Craig is self-employed. What does this mean? He gave up lots of work time—income-earning time—to care for Corky.
Because we are a community that cares for each other, I hope we can now step up to support Craig. He is too much a Norwegian to expect any help, but I know many people will want to offer it, as a gesture of love and support from a loving community.
Please join me in saying thank you to Craig and letting him know, in a tangible way, how much we value him as a friend and community member.
