Becky Strong

On behalf of Becky’s family, caring coworkers and friends, we want to make everyone aware of her plight. On 2/11/2020 Becky discovered a lump in her breast after experiencing some pain. Testing ultimately revealed the devastating diagnosis of breast cancer. This cancer, known as inflammatory cancer is particularly aggressive. Becky prepared herself for the long road of grueling and invasive treatment. First was a round of chemotherapy, followed by surgery in Chapel Hill for bilateral mastectomy. Becky is currently on her second round of chemotherapy and battling strong. Becky faces a hopeful but uncertain future. Becky has served the citizens of Henderson County NC as an Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic for 17 years. Becky is a single mother and recently a first time homeowner. Despite good health insurance the costs have been overwhelming. Becky has exhausted most of her sick time however the financial burdens remain. Becky has remained strong with her courage but one burden that can be eliminated is the financial one. Anyone can imagine the staggering weight of a serious cancer diagnosis, add to that the financial worries and life becomes almost overwhelming. Help us relieve this one burden from Becky’s mind during her long road ahead. I particularly call on public service workers. We are family, nationwide, that transcends states or borders. We have a long history of taking care of each other in times of need. To the citizens we serve, Becky has unselfishly sacrificed her wellbeing and time to care for others in their time of crisis. Let us come together now to repay Becky’s dedication to the public for half of her life. Help us reach our financial goal to allow Becky to concentrate on her health and path to recovery.
