Fighting Kidney Cancer (RMC) .

Story started late September 2017. My oldest son Tavian 18 year's old just graduated High School. He always been a happy go lucky young man. Going to gym 4 days a week . Never no health problems . Started complaining about back pain so we went to the doctor. His Dr wrote a prescription for pain. Two days later we're back in this time for blood in urine. Praying it was kidney stones just have to pass, Worst case scenario . Never in million year u think cancer back to Dr visit to ER. Found out he has mass above his right kidney about 3 cm. Feel like are life had just stopped After a bunch of testing from MRI, Blood , ultrasound, CT scan, IVP, spinal tap & chest x ray and a biopsy done of his lungs he came back he has Renal Medullary Carcinoma.. or ( RMC ) How to say I know it happens but you always assume is not going to happen to someone in your life or one of your kid's. This is Cancer that attacks the sickle cell trait or disease . It important to be aware of some common symptoms. Blood in urine, rusty or deep red Pain in side that doesn't go away Weight loss for no reason Fever & tiredness. My son kidney cancer is the first in family something we never heard of. We were told it only happens to about 1% and only been very few cases which make this a very rare & hard disease to treat. Being a single parent watching my child fight this battle is my fight to. After being hospitalized almost a month UCSF 1 week in ICU he finally made it home with his first treatment of chemotherapy with carboplatin and paclitaxel. Now Every 3 weeks he has to do chemotherapy Dr say for rest of his life. Please continue to keep my family in your prayers
