Then you experience a new feeling, never experienced before; it is a mixture of infinite joy and great sadness at the same time. You almost feel a sense of guilt, while also feeling a feeling of peace. As if unintentionally grieving others gladdened your discomfort. The more people grieve for you, the more refreshed you feel about something. You think maybe you haven't spent a life in vain. It is an indicator of how you have behaved, you think again. And then you try to console others yourself, as if to remedy a wrong, never done, among other things. What a strange life, you still think. All this gives you the conviction that friendship, but above all the family that is close to you, are immeasurable values. The disease almost doesn't scare you anymore. You are the one to challenge it, even knowing you can lose the biggest game of your life. I don't know exactly what the amount we will need to deal with this disease will be and how long it will take, but I know that for those who do not have insurance here it is really hard. Così come ciascuno di voi ha fatto a suo modo – e che per me è stato comunque prezioso – in questi anni. Ho fatto un intervento e dopo la biopsia mi è stato diagnosticato un tumore chiamato Linfoma Follicolare di 3* grado non- Hodgkin con cellule di tipo B. Sono in buone mani con medici attenti, sensibili e professionisti. Mi trovo negli Stati Uniti e le spese per affrontare questa situazione mettono me e la mia famiglia in serie difficoltà. E' per questo che vi chiedo un aiuto affinché possa proseguire con le mie cure e con tutti gli esami richiesti per questo caso. Scoprire di avere un cancro spaventa chiunque. Pensi che ti resta poco e del resto, come diceva un filosofo antico, “è la morte la più grande paura dell’uomo”. Provoca, in molti di noi, dolore, smarrimento, ansia e smania di concludere e sistemare in fretta le cose, anche quelle non ancora iniziate. Tutto ti appare prossimo alla fine. A quel punto il tuo “LP” della vita non va più a 33 giri, ma corre velocemente, va a 1000. Quello che hai fin qui vissuto ti appare a fotogrammi. Li scorri tutti, come in un film, dai più gioiosi a quelli meno felici. Vieni avvolto, forse sconvolto, in un attimo da tutte le emozioni. In questo turbinio ripercorri in un attimo la vita che hai vissuto.   Ma il paradosso è che quello che stai provando/soffrendo, a notizia diffusa, addolora anche tutte le persone con le quali ti relazioni e che ti vogliono bene. Allora provi un sentimento nuovo, mai provato prima; è un misto di infinita gioia e di grande tristezza allo stesso tempo. Ti prende quasi un senso di colpa, avvertendo contemporaneamente anche una sensazione di pace. Come se l’addolorare involontariamente gli altri allietasse il tuo sconforto.   Più persone si addolorano per te, più ti senti rinfrancato di qualcosa. Pensi che forse non hai speso una vita invano. È un indicatore di come ti sei comportato, pensi di nuovo. Ed allora provi tu stesso a consolare gli altri, quasi per porre rimedio a un torto, tra l’altro mai fatto. Che strana la vita, pensi ancora.   Tutto questo ti dà la convinzione che l’amicizia, ma soprattutto la famiglia che ti sta vicino, sono valori incommensurabili. Quasi la malattia non ti fa più paura. Sei tu a sfidarla, pur sapendo di poter perdere la più grande partita della tua vita.   Io non conosco esattamente quale sarà la cifra di cui avremo bisogno per affrontare questa malattia e quanto tempo ci vorrà, ma so che per chi non ha un'assicurazuone qui è davvero dura. Qualsiasi cosa farete per me sarà molto apprezzata
