J. Carlos Gonzalez is an 11 year old handsome, energetic, smart boy who on August of 2013 his life completely changed.
It all started off with mild back pain every other day to all day every day! Growing pains doctor said but after 1 week in children's hospital, after MRI and after hip biopsy, Carlos received the worst news ever that he had Cancer. Lymphoblastic Lymphoma stage 4. Lymphoblastic lymphoma is a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a result of abnormal adaptive immune cells, typically T-cells. It usually occurs in children. Lymph nodes (tumors) were detected on his right hip, 3 ribs, kidney & spine, T3.
He started Chemotherapy the very next day! A week later was allowed to go home but not to school. Carlos is expected to have treatment for the next 2 years.
It has been 2 months of treatment and his body has changed from getting a moon face (weight gain) to loosing his hair yet he is still in good spirit, positive & Smiling!!!!
He is currently on the 2nd phase of his treatment which consists of having chemo 4 days a week. LP procedure once a week & Carlos already received his first blood transfusion.
It has been really tough for him, his 2 sisters and mom.
Being a single mom of 3 is hard and having a son with cancer, well that just makes it worst!
