Elston Family Support

Donation protected
Bridgette Elston, mother of Marcy (5) and Brooke (2), and wife of Michael Elston of the PA Army National Guard, has recently been diagnosed with two separate types of cancer, one being an aggressive Stage 4. I have set up this fund with hopes of finding financial support from their friends, family, and anyone else willing to contribute to them.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
To best explain the condition, I have copied her own words from social media:

"Every time I meet with my docs they give me more lousy news. I wish not meeting with them was an option. Yesterday I walked away with some answers and 19 new appointments. It's gonna be a LOOOOONG road...

The right breast (with one tumor) is the one that is HER negative. So for that one I'm getting a shot next week to shut down my ovaries.

The left breast (with 3 tumors) is HER positive and so is my bone. So we found the one that spread.

This means it's two seperate cancers with two treatment protocols. Since lefty is the bigger issue we'll treat him first. I get a port put in next week and start intravenous chemo on the 13th. I will do 3 rounds, one each month so weekly hospital trips for dec, jan, and feb. They are also adding two other drugs to battle the HER receptors.

(HER is a protein and being HER negative is a good thing. Being positive means there is a protein "protecting" the cancer cells allowing them to be more agressive. So the chemo is to battle the cancer and the other two drugs are to battle the HER proteins.)

Once Feb comes I'll be put on hormone therapy to get rid of the dude in the right breast but since he's not spreading he's on the back burner.

This is stage 4 grade 2. Meaning it's bad and agressive. Long term this is treatable but not curable. I'll be on some sort of drug treatment for the rest of my life.

I'm getting a second opinion at University of PA which is one of the top cancer treatment centers. Got the appointment confirmation yesterday.

I also get genetics counseling next week to see if I'm positive for the BRCA gene. It's good to know for me and for my girls. They have a 50/50 chance of getting this. (Which is what scares me the most. As much as I'm angry this happening to me, I'd take it on 100 times if it meant my girls didn't have to. The fact that little kids have to go thru what I'm going thru breaks my heart to no end.)
...

So I'm not going to beat this. But I sure as hell won't let it beat me."

The medical coverage fortunately is supported by their TriCare coverage since she is a military spouse, but she has been removed from work and is still awaiting disability to process, which can take months. However, this isn't stopping the bills from coming in and they have had to remove their 2 year old from pre-school, with discussions occuring to take their 5 year old out as well. From the last time my wife and I had talked with them, they are currently behind about $700/month on bills alone.

My initial goal for this campaign is to have some relief entering the holiday season just knowing that they can pay the bills and focus on the more important goal of controlling the cancer so they can have a somewhat normal life again.  The $2000 set goal is to hopefully surprise them with this campaign by Christmas. My long-term goal for this is to keep the campaign open for more people to contribute so that they have an extra reserve of money so they have one less worry in regards to getting food on the table for their children. Any donation within your budget is greatly appreciated and please help with spreading the word to help out this wonderful family.
