Sonny Fini's widow needs help

Donation protected

I love my parents dearly.  They were in love for over 30 years. In February of this year, my father sadly passed away. Eugene "Sonny" Fini was a great man, an amazing friend to all, a wonderful husband, and loving father. Just about everyone in and surrounding Lackawanna, New York knew and loved him. His passing left us all broken but it has been so much worse for my mother. Her name is Lorraine and she is going to be 67 this September. Along with being older, she also has serious physical limitations and is unable to work. My dad's retirement kept them able to get by the last several years. Now with him gone, so is his income. And with his passing, a mountain of medical bills came too. Among other debts. He did not have life insurance beyond a small policy that came from his work. She is in such a position that the only monthly income she receives BARELY covers her monthly expenses. It's literally down to less than $10 left over. This leaves her no money for food or anything other than bills. The small insurance policy may take 6 more months to receive and unfortunately she won't be able to get by that long without it. Me and mine are doing everything we can to help but it's still not cutting it.
The biggest imminent problem is that my parents' home needs a new roof, required by the insurance company or they will drop her. If they drop her, she gets in some kind of trouble with the mortgage company. I don't know if it's penalties or a higher payment amount but either way she cannot afford it. The mortgage payment alone is literally half of her monthly income. My parents got screwed on their mortgage agreement and pretty much everyone that looks at it can't believe how much they got roped into paying. It's just a small single family home built in the 1920's, nothing fancy about it, nothing special, barely a yard, yet the payment is almost $1000 a month. She can't make it without help. And she certainly can't afford to get the roof when she can't get food. She's been given a deadline of Sept 8th before the insurance drops her and new problems arise. This deadline is why we're desperate for help. No one realized that she would be left with nothing but debts and problems.
To make the already bad year worse, she also just lost her mother to cancer this summer as well.  My grandmother, like my father, left my mother with no inheritance or estate but more debts instead.
My mom is such a good woman and she is my best friend. She's an amazing grandmother and animal lover and just does so much good for anyone/any animal that's in need. This is the first time in her life that she's in need. She's never been in this position before and she is scared. She doesn't deserve the mountain of problems that she's been left to deal with. If anyone is kind enough to donate anything, it would be going to that new roof first and foremost. Beyond the roof costs, anything would be directed towards the pile of debts she's been given to take care of in the hopes of decreasing her bills so she can just get to the point of being able to survive on the once monthly social security that she receives.
She has had such a bad year and I worry so much about her overall well being. Any support given would not only help her to take care of the problems but also help her period. The kindness of strangers, I feel, would do so much to boost her and make her feel good again. It's like the universe worked against her this year but I'm hoping to show her there is still good in this world for her. Not only would she be grateful beyond measure but so would I and my kids because all we want is to see her smile again. I can't watch my mom cry anymore and I'm terrified at the thought of losing her too. I can't let this stress kill her so I have to try every avenue I can think of to help her.
If you knew of/were friends with my dad, you know how much he would have done (and did do) for everyone around him. And you would also know how much he loved his wife. The thing he asked of me the most during the last year when he was sick was that I take care of my mother. I am doing everything I can but I don't have a way to fix this. This is the only thing I can think of to help keep my promise to my daddy. If you are unable help my mother, it would still be greatly appreciated if you could share this for her. Thank you.
