Anyone who has spent more than a few minutes with Jeff can’t help but notice how much he enjoys life. He is the life of every gathering, and you’ve doubtless heard him crack a joke, laugh out loud with a smile that lights up his eyes, or seen him tease Katherine with his trademark boyish grin. Jeff has a way of making people feel completely at ease.
At the beginning of August, after a couple months of a feeling unwell, Jeff finally went to the doctor to get checked out. It was determined at that time that he had stage four cancer, but the doctors weren’t sure of the extent of it, or where exactly it was located. On August 22nd, after multiple exams and tests, Jeff was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer, which the specialists deemed inoperable.
At this point, Jeff has been given at least a year to live, and he’s determined to fight the good fight with his family by his side. He begins intensive therapy at the Cancer Treatment Center of America this week, and while he is nervous, he and his family are feeling all the love and prayers that are coming his way.
That being said, while Jeff does have insurance, the insurance doesn’t cover everything, and medical bills are already starting to accrue. Given the nature of Jeff’s illness and the toll chemotherapy takes on one’s body, Jeff can no longer work, and Katherine has become the sole income earner in the household.
Jeff’s fight is just beginning, but he and his family need our help. They need our prayers and our well wishes, but they also need our help to fight the mounting medical bills so Jeff can focus on fighting cancer. Anything helps, even $5. I promise. It all adds up.
