Larry Jackson’s Fund to fight aCML

Larry Jackson is a father of 4, grandfather of 8, and husband to Lindsay.   After a health scare 10 years ago, Dad quit smoking after 30 years.  He has worked everyday of his life providing for his family and making sure we do not go without.  All of his annual and routine doctor visits have been fantastic with his cardiac panels coming back within normal limits.  On the evening of November 13, 2017 he felt very weak and tired.  A trip to the local ER and a CBC showed unbelievable results...platelets and RBC very low and a white blood count of over 380,000 (Normal is around 10,000).  

In the very early hours of Tuesday, he was transferred by ambulance to MD Anderson in Houston and literally rushed straight to the ICU.  He was diagnosed with a RARE form of Leukemia (Atypical Chronic Myeloid Leukemia) that was caused by a neoplasm he was born with. It is asymptomatic until the ages of 70-80.  

Although he does have insurance, once he becomes outpatient, he will need to be close to MD Anderson for treatment and care. With living 3.5 hours away, the drive back and forth for the the next few months will be too much for him. Being self-employed, it is almost impossible for Mom and Dad to work while Dad is receiving treatments and Mom being his primary caregiver.

This fund is used to assist in lodging and travel expenses, prescriptions that insurance won’t cover and basic bills that cannot be covered due to being in the hospital.  

I have always seen him as a superhero.  He wasn’t  suppose to get so sick so quickly.  He is suppose to see his grandkids grow into young adults.  He’s suppose to be there to take care of Mom.  No donation is too small. Please consider helping our Father. Thank you and God bless!
