Operation Get Great Dane Home

Donation protected
PLEASE!!!! Help us get this big baby home!

Our family of 7 - Mom, Dad, sister, brother, cat, other cat, and giant dog - are getting ready to leave South Korea and head back to the States. The recent government shutdown has drastically affected our bank account (among every other facet of our lives), and now as we prepare to fly out in ONE WEEK - Sweet Madeline has no ticket home.

Maddie is a two-year old Great Dane adopted out of rescue at age 6 months. She is the largest and heaviest of my children, and at the same time the most timid, needy, neurotic, and hopelessly devoted member of our family. She's my constant shadow, the best spooner ever (check out her stretching across the queen-sized bed), Nana to the kids, security alarm to the house, and fundamentally a part of this family.

MADDIE CANNOT BE LEFT BEHIND!!!

My soldier husband has completed his tour in South Korea. Just as we arranged our flights and began preparing for our move our government shut down and funds we were counting on are unavailable for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, as hard as I tried, I am not permitted to stay in country for the sake of my dog, until I can afford to move her. So we are doing everything we can possibly think of, and exploring all options suggested to us by our awesome army community, to get her home.

I'm humbly asking for donations - any little bit helps - to put towards her exorbitant travel costs. I promise here at home we are selling anything not bolted down, kids are doing odd jobs for cash, we're fighting with army offices around post -- we are doing our part. But still, I'm afraid at the week's end it won't be enough.

If there are any Great Dane lovers, dog lovers, pet lovers, military lovers, or just plain ole sweet people with a dollar to spare --- please, Please, PLEASE I beg you to help our cause.

Maddie is ridiculously sweet and very much a little girl. She's afraid of many things, especially here in Korea. Furthermore, I am not kidding when I say she is imprinted on me. I cannot take a bathroom break without her by my side. While I am grown-up enough to rehome her, I do not believe it would be in her best interest. Not only that, but in this army community we live in, anyone who takes her will invariably run into the same problems I am experiencing. Those that know her here understand she is NOT a being who can handle a life of being bounced around from home to home. That is unfortunately the fate of many military dogs who find themselves overseas. Had I been able to foresee this problem, I'd have never brought her to Korea. But here she is, and there we go. Please help get her home.
