Linda’s Journey To Recovery

My cousin Linda Miller, otherwise known as Linda Atilano, was in a traumatic car accident on November 11, 2017 on her way home from work. She was hit head-on by someone while driving on a quiet country road. She was trapped for more than an hour and alone for quite a while before someone passed by! Linda is blessed to be alive. Her seatbelt and airbag saved her life. Linda’s injuries include many shattered bones in her right leg, shattered right femur, broken left ankle, fractured left fibula, the bone under the right knee is broken, and she has many bone chips in her spinal column. Linda also has 6 broken ribs. She had surgery where they placed titanium rod and screws to reconnect her femur to her knee and her tibia. Linda has been hospitalized in a trauma center and will be transferred to a skilled nursing facility to build strength before going to her home. Linda is such a positive, hopeful, and loving person. Her spirits are up and she is so inspiring! Linda is experiencing PTSD on top of all her physical pain. She has a long recovery ahead of her and will need a lot of help. Linda is not married and most of her family members are not local. She lives off of one income. Linda works at Lincoln High School in Western Placer Unified School District. She is an artist and art teacher. She just started this job in August 2017. Linda has good medical coverage but she will have many expenses.
