Mitch’s STOLEN WHEELCHAIR

Donation protected
My name is Mitch. I’ve been in a wheelchair for 10 years and I’ve come to accept reality and make the best of it no matter what. When I was 17 I was the victim of a senseless crime and was left paralyzed for the rest of my life. As a teenager I didn’t know how to approach this obstacle. I felt like life was over as I knew it and starting a life confined to a wheelchair was just never what I expected to have to face in life, especially at such a young age.
I survived throughout 18 hours of open heart surgery following a lengthy induced coma. Upon wake up I wasn’t able to do anything for myself. No eating drinking or or even breathing on my own. I lost 113 lbs over a weeks time and endured the toughest medical issues I’ve ever been exposed to in my life. Over time I had gotten so used to being in a chair I became one with my wheelchair. It gave me confidence and supported me everyday no matter what.
On November 17th someone STOLE my wheelchair while I went to take out the garbage!! I put my garbage on top of my truck hood and left my chair in my handicap spot to go drop the garbage at the compactor. Not 3 mins gone and they took My wheelchair. My only means of transportation. The only way I can get to and from the bathroom kitchen and car without dragging myself across the floor. Its the worst feeling I’ve felt since my accident because I’ve come so far and just like that In one fell swoop someone can take it away from me. My confidence plummeted and insecurities skyrocketed in the matter of 2 minutes of realizing I’m stuck where I Am now until I get some real help. Indint have any back up chairs and I’m reaching out for a few old ones that I may be able to use but those aren’t built for me and will do more harm to my body than good. I need my own chair, I can’t function without it. I feel helpless confined to the bed. I’m already paralyzed, the last thing I need is to be immobile. So please help with anything possible. Even if it’s just a share it is greatly appreciated! Here is the news converage. https://www.local10.com/news/wheelchair-stolen-from-paralyzed-margate-man
