Dear Friends,

Many of you will know that I had a catastrophic accident last November when I fell from a ladder whilst at work. The fall broke my back, and since my accident I have been paralysed from the chest down.

From research I have done on the net it looks possible that I may regain function in my legs by using an FES bike.
FES stands for functional electronic stimulation.
The bike uses sophisticated technology to stimulate the muscles in my legs so that they fire in sequence to make my legs cycle...

But the bike costs £15,000!!

So, I'm inviting you to support me in this next phase of my rehab to help me to get my leg muscles working again. FES will help me to keep fit, and help to stop my body from atrophy, and it also encourages 'neuroplasticity', which is the body's ability to regrow new nerve pathways!
I read one article of a man who was paralysed who started using an FES bike, and within a couple of months he began to get feeling and function back in his legs... without even using the bike, which demonstrates that new nerves had made connections to the brain.

My first goal is to get the muscles in my legs working again, on the way to walking, running, and hopefully even dancing again too!
